   The following are frequently asked questions of the Fire Department with responses. If you have an additional question please contact the Department at (605) 842-3324.

Q:  When I see a Fire Truck coming, should I pull over to the side of the road?
    A: YES ! State law requires when you see an emergency vehicle with lights flashing, sirens going, or both you need to pull over to the right side of the road.

Q: What are the requirements to join the Fire Department?
    A: You must live in the city limits and must be at least 23yrs of age.

Q:  Can I follow the trucks to the fire?

    A: NO!!! people who do this not only endanger themselves but the Firefighter as well and possibly the people they are trying to help!

Q:  How often should I check my smoke alarm?
    A: Twice a year.

Q:  What should I do in case of a house fire?
    A: Get out of the house, call 911 & DON'T GO BACK IN!!

Q:   My fire extinguisher needs to be re-charged, what do I do?

     A:  Contact Dan Brunmeier at 842-1730 for service.
